About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marine Electrical Superintendent to join a Liverpool-based technical team supporting a fleet of owned and managed vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of marine electrical resources and will provide technical support to vessel superintendents and wider operational management.
Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Maintain and update Marine/Safety/Engineering department databases.
- Assist with the preparation of docking specifications, reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Supervise electrical work and testing during surveys, dockings, overhauls and repairs, ensuring clear communication about emerging issues affecting scope or cost.
- Collaborate with technical management to plan maintenance schedules, resource requirements and work programmes.
- Provide marine electrical engineering support to internal departments across the business.
- Liaise with port authorities, consultants, shipyards, contractors and suppliers as required.
- Conduct daily reviews and updates of HELM/Dynamics for assigned vessels, ensuring all electrical tasks and defects are accurately recorded.
- Coordinate contractor activity, obtain quotations, and follow appropriate approval processes.
- Promote a strong safety and environmental culture in line with company policy.
- Attend technical meetings and contribute to system and process improvements.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure electrical issues raised on board fleet vessels are promptly investigated and resolved safely and consistently.
- Verify vessel compliance with relevant electrical legislation and standards.
- Support vessel engineers in the maintenance and updating of HELM/Dynamics maintenance systems.
- Provide accurate feedback on completed tasks, outstanding work, asset condition and any additional requirements.
- Carry out periodic inspections and testing of safety devices, including megger testing of marine assets.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Ship’s Electrician, EOOW, or equivalent role (essential).
- Background in shipbuilding or ship repair.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, propulsion system controls and monitoring systems.
- Competent IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Excel.
- Thorough understanding of risk assessments, safe working practices, permit-to-work systems, and lock-out/tag-out procedures, with the willingness to support their implementation.
