Chemist – Basingstoke (Multi-site) | 3-shift pattern | £28,000–£29,000
We have a new opportunity for a Chemist to join a well-established manufacturing company, working across three sites in Basingstoke. This is a hands-on lab role supporting production, R&D and external customer testing, with a strong focus on safe working, quality, traceability and turnaround to support manufacturing.

Salary: £28,000- £29,000
Hours: 3-shift pattern – Early 06:00–14:00 | Middle 09:00–17:00 | Late 11:00–19:00

Key Responsibilities of a Chemist
- Process control and analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products
- Test customer samples as required and support external laboratory submissions
- Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot analytical equipment
- Support analytical method development (new products/specs and improving existing methods)
- Provide analytical support for new chemical process development
- Ensure robust documentation for quality standards and traceability
- Support HSE practices and maintain a proactive safety culture in the lab
- Liaise with manufacturing to ensure products are tested and released on time
- Provide technical support to help production processes achieve desired results
- Assist with preparation/release of Certificates of Analysis
- Lab housekeeping, waste disposal, archiving and continuous improvement of quality systems
- Train/support other lab and production personnel where appropriate
- Prepare analytical standards and reagents
Requirements of a Chemist
- Ideally 1+ year experience in an analytical lab / similar chemist role
- OR if not, you’ll need a Chemistry degree (Analytical Chemistry or related preferred) and ideally have studied chemistry at college or closely related subjects
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage changing priorities
- Good IT skills: spreadsheets, email, Word, and computer-managed lab equipment
- Self-motivated, flexible and strong problem-solving ability
