Residential Children’s Home Manager – Canterbury - £50k plus benefits

Hampton’s Resourcing are proud to be working with a Specialist Children’s Residential Services provider to recruit for a challenging yet rewarding Registered Manager’s role, based in Canterbury. The 6 bedded home supports children who require specialist emotional and behavioral support.

Our Client offers a ‘community’ style approach for young people, to support their emotional and behavioral needs. Our clients combined knowledge and experience of over 30 years concerning Child and Adolescent Mental Health provides comprehensive assessments of young people’s needs to develop personal care pathways for the individual, which was recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

This home is still awaiting its first inspection so now is the perfect opportunity to add your experience to the mix to aim for a successful visit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the children and young person’s primary and developmental needs are met to a high standard
  • To create a safe environment in which the children and young people feel emotionally and physically secure
  • Manage the physical resources of the home in line with legal, Inspection & registration guidelines / requirements and company policies
  • Facilitate meetings as required, directing the compilation of any necessary reports for court and to review or plan meetings with your staff team to organise carrying out those plans within the care environment.
  • Manage own time effectively, ensuring appropriate delegation of tasks to deputies and other support staff

Skills and Experience

  • NVQ level 5 or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of Childcare & Child Protection Laws
  • Training in supportive skills (i.e. counselling)
  • Experience in operational & strategic management skills of children, staff & service resources
  • Experience of working with abused children in a residential setting
  • Experience of using childcare Standards & best practice model to guide decision making
