The Manager, Student and Academic Services is responsible for the leadership and management of a small team of staff who deliver student-centred service and administration support.

About the role

 

  • Manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of high-quality, student-centric student and academic services and contribute to the strategic direction of the Colleges through participation in the Senior Management Team meetings;
  • Lead a small team of Student and Academic Services staff, ensuring high levels of engagement, efficiency, student centricity and team morale;
  • Ensure an inclusive and engaged environment for both staff and students;
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with key colleagues in the University and in Navitas;
  • Collaborate with Navitas colleagues in the maintenance of data integrity, system improvements and reporting to regulatory authorities
  • Represent the Colleges in a range of forums and events to internal and external audiences, including the Navitas Community of Practice for Student and Academic Services;
  • Ensure compliance with The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 (the Code), and any subsequent Codes, in all areas pertaining to student and academic Services
  • Ensure the team maintains knowledge of current policies, procedures and regulations to provide accurate advice to students and staff
  • Apply expertise and provide guidance to staff on more difficult cases and on utilising policies, procedures, legislation, student rules, regulations, and documented user procedures
  • Manage and coordinate quality and compliance as it applies to student support and welfare operations
  • Comply with Workplace Health & Safety policies and guidelines

 

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • Relevant and recent experience in student services and administration
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience of managing in a multicultural environment
  • Intercultural competence
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills
  • High levels of initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work scheduled hours between 9:00a.m. – 8:30p.m. (M-F)
  • Ability to respond to calls on the 24/7 emergency contact phone (on a rostered basis)
