About the opportunity

 

This position is responsible for resource planning/allocation, operational management, timeline management, and recruiting, retaining, managing, and mentoring biostatisticians and line managers.

Additional responsibility is ensuring a strong collaborative relationship between Biostatistics and Data Management, Clinical Operations, Business Development and all other departments in the organisation.

 

Duties

 

Line Management

  • Lead all functional and operational aspects of the Biostatistics
  • Line manage/mentor functional line managers and/or other senior staff members.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and guidelines, ICH and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Performance management; set and agree written goals and objectives, competency assessments, coordinate salary reviews and promotions and maintain succession plans. 
  • Support the delivery of consistent training and development in order to grow and promote from within the Biostatistics group
  • Actively contribute to the recruitment of new staff.

Project/Resource Management

  • Define and prioritise resource requirements and manage resource assignments across projects with the support of line managers. 
  • Review and prioritise designated resourcing allocations to ensure on-time project deliveries. 
  • May act as Project Manager/Project Lead for major study or a series/group of studies.

Financial Management

  • Provide support in creation and review of proposals and change orders for all biostatistics and statistical programming activities. This will require working with management, project management and business development to gain approval. 
  • Ensure adherence to project budgets and identification of out-of-scope activities. 
  • Maintains departmental utilisation/realisation and project-level targets at a profitable level

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • A degree in clinical, biological or mathematical sciences or related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Biometrics (Data Management and Biostatistics) processes and systems.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to lead by example and to encourage team members to proactively seek solutions. 
  • Previous people management experience.
