The role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented IT Business Support Officer to join our Data and Digital Solutions Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of administrative and business support functions, while also providing first-level IT support to internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Data and Digital Solutions, you will play a key role in maintaining efficient workflows and supporting the team’s operational effectiveness
Key Duties
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Head of Data and Digital Solutions.
- Respond to customer and business enquiries in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner.
- Manage financial and procurement tasks, including raising and receipting purchase orders, collecting receipts, booking travel and accommodation, and reconciling invoices.
- Deliver first-level IT support to users, resolving non-complex technical issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
- Utilise appropriate tools and methods to address user support queries and restore ICT systems to optimal performance.
- Assist in the administration, development, and maintenance of ICT assets and related documentation.
- Perform other duties as required, aligned with your skills and qualifications.
- Uphold TasPorts’ values and adhere to all policies and procedures to maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace.

What you will have
- Experience in Business Support Functions: Demonstrated experience in providing administrative and business support within a digital, data, or ICT-focused team.
- Technical Competence in ICT Support: Ability to troubleshoot common IT issues and familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office 365 and service management platforms.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Sound judgment and initiative in resolving routine technical and administrative issues.
- Professionalism and Confidentiality: A high level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Adaptability: A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies and processes.
- Desirable: Knowledge of records management practices and experience maintaining digital records in line with organisational or legislative requirements.
Essential
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
Desirable
- Current driver’s licence.
