Design Manager – Substations

Rate: Up to £750/day (Outside IR35)

Duration: Minimum 6 months+ extensions

Are you an experienced Design Manager with high-voltage electrical substation experience seeking a high-profile, lucrative contract in Scotland?

We at Randstad are partnering with a market-leading Tier-1 civil and energy infrastructure contractor to appoint a Design Manager for a major multi-million-pound Substation development in the Central Belt.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and supply chains through all project design stages.
• Ensuring that designs comply with statutory regulations, safety standards, and project-specific requirements.
• Integrating design programmes with procurement schedules, cost plans, and site construction methods to resolve buildability issues early.
• Managing project information using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), ViewPoint, and digital carbon assessment tools.

Requirements:

• Degree, HNC, or HND in engineering, architecture, or construction project management.
• Professional membership or working toward CIOB, ICE, or equivalent.
• Proven design management experience across complex infrastructure (electrical substations preferred).
• Previous experience on SPEN or SSEN schemes (strongly preferred).
