Senior Buyer - Electronic Components (TMW1038) Fareham, England

A great opportunity has arisen for a Senior Buyer - Electronic Components to join an established Purchasing Team based in Fareham, Hampshire, for a client who are world leaders within marine electronics.
Reporting to the VP Supply Chain, the Senior Buyer - Electronic Components will be responsible for sourcing and supply management for electronic components, electro-mechanics, contract manufacturers and original design manufacturers. In the short-term, this role will be focused on the supply issues centred around the component shortage. The ideal candidate will have experience working with major suppliers (Intel, SD Micro, Texas Instruments etc).
Some of the key responsibilities in this Senior Buyer - Electronic Components role will be:
- Working with our manufacturing partners, suppliers and engineering team to manage and resolve electronic component supply problems.
- Define sourcing strategies ensuring technology roadmap, cost and schedule requirements are satisfied and use industry knowledge to influence Design Engineers and Product Managers.
- Select, evaluate and approve new suppliers to meet current and future project and business requirements
- Manage the introduction of new parts and products to meet cost, quality and project schedule requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships, supplier development and supplier quality
- Apply commodity knowledge and production expertise to reduce cost, cycle time and drive efficiencies though the supply chain
Some of the key experiences and skills required for this Senior Buyer - Electronic Components vacancy are:
- Either an Electronics qualification with very strong commercial experience or a business related qualification with electronics experience
- Experience with Electronic components
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, production, logistics and procurement.
- Skilled at working with MRP systems – SAP experience an advantage.
- Negotiation and relationship management
- Organised with a high attention to detail
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels within the supplier from line operators to senior directors.
