HGV Class 1 (C+E) Night Driver – National Trunking

Location: Dordon, Tamworth
Pay: £19.63 per hour | £26.00 per hour for a 6th shift
Shift Pattern: Sunday to Friday nights
Start Times: Between 19:00 and 03:00

The Best Connection Tamworth are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Night Drivers to join a leading national logistics operation.

The Role

You will be responsible for completing national depot deliveries across the UK, primarily during night-time operations.

Your duties will include:

  • Completing nationwide depot deliveries
  • Delivering to closed depots during night operations
  • Completing approximately 2–4 depot deliveries per shift.
  • Unloading using pump trucks and roll cages
  • Collecting and loading return empties
  • Completing vehicle checks and required paperwork
  • Vehicles will be pre-loaded, so no loading is required at the start of your shift
  • Working safely and in accordance with drivers' hours and company procedures

Please note: This role involves manual handling. Suitable handling equipment is provided.

Pay & Working Hours

  • £19.63 per hour.
  • £26.00 per hour for a 6th shift worked.
  • Sunday to Friday nights
  • Start times between 19:00 and 03:00.
  • Regular night work available

Requirements

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Minimum 1 year's commercial Class 1 driving experience.
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Comfortable undertaking manual handling duties
  • Flexible to work national routes and night shifts
  • Willingness to undertake occasional tramping/overnight stays in the cab is preferred
  • Reliable and professional approach

Assessment Process

Successful applicants will be required to complete:

  • Practical driving assessment
  • Six-question competency test
  • Drug and alcohol screening via swab test
  • Urine test may be required if the swab result is inconclusive

Assessment slots are available from 18:30, with multiple slots available each day.

Training

Successful drivers will complete paid site training, which typically takes 3–4 days.

Training pay rates will be confirmed at the point of application.
