Our client based in Watford is looking for a Secondary Wireman to join their team.

 

Secondary Wireman Role Purpose:

To carry out secondary systems wiring, protection and control panel wiring and multi core/control cabling for HV substations, working accurately to drawings and specifications.

 

Secondary Wireman Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, wire and terminate protection, control and relay panels.
  • Install multicore and control cabling, containment, glanding and terminations.
  • Terminate to wiring diagrams, cable schedules and core sheets.
  • Carry out point-to-point checks, continuity testing and core identification.
  • Interpret secondary schematics, wiring diagrams and GA drawings.
  • Label, record and mark up cores and support the testing & commissioning team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
  • Work to HVSS quality, HSE standards.

Essential Network Accreditation:

Applicants must hold current authorisation and/or demonstrable delivery experience on at least ONE of the following distribution or transmission networks:

  • Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
  • UK Power Networks (UKPN)
  • National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
  • National Grid (NG)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Panel / secondary wiring experience on at least one of SSEN, UKPN, NGED or NG.
  • City & Guilds / NVQ in electrical installation (e.g. 2330 / 2360 / 2365).
  • SSSTS and IPAF desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience:

  • Proven substation panel and secondary wiring experience.
  • Familiarity with protection, control and relay panel arrangements.
  • Experience working from cable schedules and core sheets.

  • Accurate interpretation of secondary drawings and schedules.
  • Methodical, neat and detail-focused approach.
  • Good team worker supporting commissioning activities.

Salary: £45,000 per year

 

Shift times: 09:00am-17:00pm (hours may differ, flexibility is needed)
