Our client based in Watford is looking for a Primary Plant Fitter to work within their team.

 

Primary Plant Fitter Role Purpose:

To install and assemble HV substation primary plant - transformers, switchgear, busbars and cables - to drawings and manufacturer specifications.

 

Primary Plant Fitter Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and Assemble transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear and busbar systems.
  • Support HV cable installation, jointing and terminations.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly, rigging and erection of HV plant.
  • Install earthing, bonding, containment and multicore systems.
  • Work from general arrangement drawings and manufacturer instructions.
  • Assist with pre-commissioning checks and inspections.
  • Handle, position and set out heavy plant safely using appropriate lifting methods.
  • Comply with HVSS health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Primary Plant Fitter Essential Network Accreditation:

Applicants must hold current authorisation and/or demonstrable delivery experience on at least ONE of the following distribution or transmission networks:

  • Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
  • UK Power Networks (UKPN)
  • National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
  • National Grid (NG)

Primary Plant Fitter Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Plant installation experience on at least one of SSEN, UKPN, NGED or NG.
  • Relevant mechanical / electrical NVQ or City & Guilds qualification.
  • Slinger / signaller, IPAF and abrasive wheels desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Expierience:

  • Proven HV plant installation experience within a substation environment.
  • Mechanical fitting, rigging and heavy plant handling.
  • Familiarity with transformers, switchgear and busbar erection.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical installation ability.
  • Safe lifting and rigging practice.
  • Ability to work accurately from GA drawings.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious team worker.

Salary: £42,000 per year

 

Shift times: 09:00am-17:00pm (hours may differ, flexibility is needed)
