Part Time Volunteer Coordinator (J7142) Letchworth Garden City, England

Salary: GBP16 - GBP18 per hour

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Volunteer Co-Ordinator to provide short-term operational co-ordination of our Letchworth based clients established volunteering programme.

This role will ensure continuity, maintain volunteer engagement, and support programme delivery while a wider volunteering strategy review is underway.

The organisation has an active and well-established volunteer base of approximately 120 volunteers operating across multiple sites and service areas.

This is a part time role for approx. 20 hours a week, these can be made up of 3 full days or having the hours spread out over 4 to 5 days. – the assignment is for 12 weeks and will be site based in Letchworth.

 

Role Purpose

To oversee the day-to-day co-ordination, administration, and support of the volunteering programme, ensuring volunteers remain effectively deployed, supported, and engaged across all operational areas.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the organisation’s volunteer communications and scheduling platform
  • Maintain and update volunteer rotas
  • Liaise with operational teams, to ensure volunteer coverage meets service requirements
  • Process volunteer expense claims in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Manage incoming volunteering enquiries
  • Promote new volunteering opportunities using agreed channels
  • Co-ordinate recruitment, vetting, and onboarding of new volunteers in line with organisational policy
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure a positive volunteer experience
  • Respond to queries and escalate welfare or operational issues as required

 

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience managing or coordinating volunteer programmes or similar people-based services
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Experience managing rotas and coordinating multiple service areas
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Successful candidate must be confident managing established volunteer groups with minimal supervision
  • The role requires strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity when working with volunteers from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility may be required to occasionally support evening or weekend activity
