Receptionist (Grade AO - Probation Service)
Location: Birkenhead (Probation Service, 40 Europa Boulevard, Birkenhead CH41 4PE)

• Pay: £12.71 per hour
• Working pattern: Mon & Wed & Fri (8:30-16:30 / 9:15-17:15), plus Tue & Thu (8:30-16:30 / 9:15-17:15 and 13:00-21:00 on a rota basis) - office based
• Assignment length: until 13/01/2027, Extension likely however based on business needs 
• Training: provided
• Clearance: Basic DBS required (security and identity checks apply)


Are you at your best when you’re the calm, welcoming first point of contact? Hiring for a reputed client, Our Client is looking for a Receptionist to provide an efficient, professional front-of-house experience-plus day-to-day administrative support that keeps the building running smoothly.


What you'll be doing:
• Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, telephone callers and enquiries-greeting people professionally face to face, and handling calls and emails
• Logging arrivals and departures, issuing visitor passes and security fobs, and notifying the right team members promptly
• Using tact and situational awareness to diffuse tense moments and escalate support when needed (including safeguarding/risk concerns)
• Answering basic enquiries about the Probation Service and signposting to appropriate support services
• Managing building logistics-mail handling, ordering stationery and PPE, supporting meeting room set-ups, deliveries, and room/hot desk/car parking bookings
• Handling petty cash and supporting travel arrangements for people on probation
• Supporting Health & Safety and security: acting as key holder, operating building security, assisting with fire/panic alarm testing, monitoring CCTV, and stepping in as Fire Warden/First Aider where trained
• Logging building faults/maintenance issues and escalating through the correct channels
• Providing confidential administrative support to operational teams, including scanning/archiving and maintaining computer and manual filing systems (some information is sensitive)
