Key responsibilities and Accountabilities include;
- Cost Estimation: Conduct thorough cost estimations for aerospace projects, products, and services, considering materials, labour, equipment, and other relevant factors. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement, and project managers, to gather necessary data and input for precise estimations.
- Pricing Analysis: Evaluate competitive market pricing and industry benchmarks to determine appropriate pricing strategies for aerospace offerings. Analyse and interpret pricing data to ensure the company maintains a competitive edge while meeting profit margin targets.
- Proposal Development: Support the proposal development process by providing accurate cost breakdowns and pricing information. Work closely with the business development team to understand customer requirements and align cost estimates with project objectives.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project cost estimations. Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Cost Optimisation: Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality and safety standards. Suggest innovative approaches and alternate materials or processes to improve project cost-efficiency.
- Data Management: Maintain an organised and up-to-date database of historical cost data, pricing information, and industry trends to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of future estimations.
- Compliance and Regulations: Stay informed about industry regulations, contractual obligations, and export/import restrictions that may impact project costs. Ensure that all estimations align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to enhance the estimation process and tools. Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline work-flows and increase overall departmental efficiency.
Core skills/attributes needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the aerospace manufacturing or engineering industry, with a track record of successful project cost estimations.
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency in using estimation software and tools.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Measurable performance indicators/objectives of role:
- Both regular reviews and an annual PDR will be held to ensure the employee and their Line Manager are happy with their performance, progress, and development.
- Further reviews may also be held to discuss any ongoing training needs of the employee.
