UKSV Policy Advisor
Location: Glasgow - Hybrid after 6 weeks
Hourly rate: £16.96
This role is open to UK National`s only - a valid UK Passport or Birth Certificate will be needed.
You must be able to commit to a mandatory 6-week training programme based in the client office - no annual leave can be taken throughout this period.
Brook Street in partnership with the UK Security Vetting are recruiting into the Policy team to help deliver key priorities. This will be a busy role in a fast-paced environment and will provide access to senior colleagues and stakeholders; opportunities to work closely across Government with other policy teams within the Government Security Group and more widely across UKSV. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and motivated individual to support and work alongside the Policy Lead, Professionalisation Lead and the Head of Profession to lead in the creation of UKSV Doctrine.
The policy role will offer the opportunity to:
" Be an expert within your policy area
" Build close working relationships with Cabinet Office colleagues, the wider Security Profession offices and other departments to ensure UKSV is at the forefront of Policy.
" Draft submissions on potential policy changes and policy issues within Vetting
" Work with colleagues to analyse and consider various elements of Policy and make recommendations on the action required.
" Programme management of complex interwoven policy
" Develop your professional excellence working in an environment that is committed to development and professionalisation.
" Occasional travel is required to other site locations - York or Glasgow
As a Policy Advisor within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:
" Ability in drafting reports, briefings and correspondence
" Capable of working both independently and as a team member
" Well organised and able to handle pressure
" Excellent communication skills, able to articulate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
" Self-motivated, flexible with the ability to multitask
" Have an understanding of policy-making, reviewing and researching
" Knowledge of Google products
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security clearance needed is Security Clearance. Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service nationality rules.
