Senior Services Engineer

Senior Services Engineer (16640) Canberra, Australia

Salary: Level 3

Start: circa 01 November 2025
Duration: 24 months – with 2 x 12 month extension options
Location: Canberra, ACT

Basic Requirements:

  • AGSVA Security clearance
  • Windows Server 2016 (and later); Windows 11 (and later); SharePoint 2016 (and later); VMWare 7 (and later); Exchange 2016 (and later); SQL Server 2016 (and later); and MECM.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience with AD Federated Services and PKI.
  • Configure and manage desktop and server SOEs (based on MPE design).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain security controls for the CTE in accordance with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight mitigation strategies.
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders, including ICT support teams, project managers, and security personnel.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing Linux servers within a secure Defence environment.
  • Ability to monitor system logs, detect anomalies, and respond to security incidents in accordance with Defence protocols.
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools and Defence cyber security reporting requirements.
  • Experience in design and implementation of Land, Coalition and Joint Local Area Networks based on IEEE802.3, IEEE802.11 and TCP/IP Networks; Build and implement virtual server architectures within the Land Mission Network Environment; Manage security architectures for LNIC cross-domain solutions, including (but not limited to) AUS MPE to DSN and AUS MPE to other Mission Partner Environments.
  • Experience with in-service or emerging IP networks used by the ADF including P-BTN, I-BTN, DWAN or MCSS is desirable.
  • Experience with Voice and Video formats including CISCO Unified Call Manager and Presence, and CISCO Meeting Server.
  • Knowledge of in-service tactical communications systems; tactical and strategic Common Operating Picture systems; and the Land Tactical Network Architecture.
  • Familiarity with Mission Command and Control Applications, including deployment, configuration, and support in operational environments.
