About the Role:

Protiviti is looking for a skilled Analytical Engineer (m/v/x) to join our team’s client in Utrecht. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical setup of data solutions according to the new bol-wide Analytical Engineering (AE) standards. You will work on building the missing data entities and metrics necessary to support our business use cases, ensuring high-quality data modeling, transformation, and governance.

Key Responsibilities for the Analytical Engineer in Utrecht:

  • Data Modeling & Transformation:
    • Design and implement data models following best practices in DBT (models, tests, seeds, snapshots, macros).
    • Apply cloud computing expertise with Google Cloud and Kubernetes.
    • Master data normalization and denormalization techniques.
  • Data Engineering & ETL:
    • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate multiple data sources using CI/CD methodologies.
    • Work with data warehouses, particularly BigQuery, to optimize data storage and retrieval.
    • Utilize Airflow for data ingestion and integration processes.
  • Data Governance & Quality:
    • Perform data validation and testing in DBT using dbt test.
    • Define data contracts and SLAs to ensure reliability and performance.
    • Implement version control (Git) and documentation tools like Colibra to maintain data integrity.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Partner with engineering and Analytics Engineer teams to align data sources and workflows.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define a single source of truth for key metrics.
    • Create clear documentation and definitions for KPIs and data models.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in analytical engineering, data modeling, and data engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with DBT, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, BigQuery, Airflow, and Git.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformation, and governance.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting and communicate effectively in English.
