Major Recruitment is working in Partnership with an incredible Commercial vehicle rental company. They have a number of permanent opportunities Nationally and are actively seeking experienced individuals who are looking for a new challenge.

 

Purpose of Job

 

To identify and secure both short- and long-term rental, Contract Hire and Finance sales of the Company's truck and trailer fleet. To work in conjunction with the Branch Sales Manager (BSM) and be jointly responsible for the achievement of the sales and profit results of the branches within the designated sales area.

 

The job holder will work closely with Senior Management to set and achieve growth objectives.

  

Additionally, the job holder will:

  • Maintain a high level of truck and trailer utilisation and to achieve sales revenue and profit targets as set
  • Agree an action plan in conjunction with the BSM, Contract Hire & Leasing and National Accounts Teams to set out the activities for the quarter to achieve the branches revenue target for transient/contract assets sales revenue and profit targets. The plans are required to be submitted to company head office by a date as advised by the company’s Truck and trailer fleet Management team
  • Ensure that the Truck and trailer fleet CRM system, SID (Sales Information Database), is always kept up to date. This is a primary function of the ASM role
  • Responsible for a geographical area that covers a set number of Truck and trailer fleet branches as detailed in the organisational chart
  • Regularly feedback market intelligence on both the activities of our competitors and competitive rates being quoted in the market by our competitors.
  • Highlight any branch operational issues affecting sales performance to the Head of Sales
  • Maintain regular contact with the National Accounts and Contract Hire Sales teams to ensure complete transparency in sales activities relating to the nominated accounts list
  • The job holder acts on their own initiative in researching information on potential customers. This is achieved through sightings, trade publications, historical data, industry knowledge, SID, monitoring current customers usage and own contacts

 Key Features & Responsibilities

  • Responsible to develop a joint quarterly action plan with the branch BSM and Contract Hire & Leasing and National Accounts Teams, identifying sales opportunities with actions, dates and responsibilities and supporting and monitoring the branch sales performance against target to achieve the Company’s objectives
  • Sign orders (exceeding 3 months) for the Company's products and services to be operated by the assigned branches, working closely with the head office fleet and contracts team
  • Ensure that specific or new conquest sales targets are achieved within time limits to contribute to the overall sales achievement
  • Complete all administration accurately and effectively within given deadlines ensuring accurate and constant usage of the Truck and trailer fleet CRM database (SID)
  • Build and maintain good relationships with branch staff and customers and inform them of changes and developments in the Company's products and services
  • Credit check and cold call on companies who run their own vehicles
  • Monitor and analyse customer spend year by year and action accordingly with proposed plans to recover and maximise customer potential
  • Responsible to plan own visits and agendas and completing joint customer visits with the branch BSM when required to visit or prospect key potential customers
  • Keep in close contact with branch activities regarding new business or customer issues and provide assistance where necessary
  • The need to be in constant contact with the branch to maintain accurate knowledge of sales activity whilst pursuing own initiatives
  • Support all Truck and trailer fleet marketing campaigns to drive additional footfall and revenue opportunities, supporting any off-site marketing events as and when required
  • Maintain an awareness of trade and local situations and ensure appropriate action to meet changing circumstances to ensure the Company maintains its overall high market position
  • Support each branch with a minimum of 1 day per week

 

 

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • The area covers a large territory and as such call planning, time management and excellent organisational skills are essential
  • An experienced negotiator with the ability to construct, deliver and close complex proposals to multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Gravitas and credibility
  • Sound education (degree level, or industry experience equivalent)
  • Knowledge of UK logistics, distribution and transportation markets
  • Basic knowledge of trucks and trailers
  • Able to work on own initiative and to lead ad hoc project teams
