Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

Gi Group Ireland is currently recruiting for a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing and well-established team within the mechanical services sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with early industry experience looking to build their career in estimating and quantity surveying. Working closely with an experienced Senior Estimator, you will gain hands-on exposure to live projects, tendering processes, cost analysis, and commercial aspects of project delivery.

The Role
As a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor, you will support the preparation of competitive tenders and cost estimates for a range of projects. The role offers a mix of office-based work and occasional site visits, providing valuable experience across both pre-construction and project support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Input pricing, quantities, and project data into estimating systems
  • Prepare supporting documentation for tender submissions
  • Assist with value engineering exercises where appropriate
  • Attend site visits and project meetings as required
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and external estimating support when necessary
  • Maintain tender records and work-in-progress schedules
  • Organise and manage tender documentation and project files
  • Monitor supplier pricing updates and maintain estimating databases


What We're Looking For

  • Degree qualification (Level 7 or Level 8) in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying, or construction-related role would be advantageous
  • Exposure to construction, mechanical, or M&E projects is desirable
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop professionally
