HGV Class 2 & 7.5 Tonne Drivers Wanted – Preston

Location: Preston, Lancashire
Pay Rates:

• Class 2 (Category C): £16.36 per hour
• 7.5 Tonne (Category C1): £16.05 per hour

The Role

We are currently recruiting reliable and experienced Class 2 and 7.5 Tonne Drivers for a client based in Preston. The role involves carrying out deliveries and collections across Lancashire, providing excellent customer service and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on driving role, which includes handballing and the loading and unloading of goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out deliveries and collections across Lancashire.
• Driving Class 2 or 7.5 tonne vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Completing daily vehicle checks before and after journeys, reporting any defects or maintenance issues.
• Ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and comply with road safety regulations.
• Loading and unloading goods, including manual handling and handballing where required.
• Securing loads safely and ensuring goods are transported without damage.
• Completing delivery notes, collection paperwork and other relevant documentation.
• Following planned routes and delivery schedules.
• Communicating professionally with customers and the transport team.
• Maintaining a clean and tidy vehicle.
• Complying with drivers' hours, tachograph regulations and working time requirements, where applicable.
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties associated with the role.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

• A minimum of 12 months' relevant driving experience.
• A valid Category C driving licence for Class 2 positions, or a valid Category C1 driving licence for 7.5 tonne positions.
• A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC), where required.
• A valid digital tachograph card, where required for the vehicle and operation.
• A good understanding of road safety and vehicle checks.
• The ability to carry out manual handling and handballing duties.
• A reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
