China ESG Analyst

China ESG Analyst (J15857) Shanghai, China

About Sustainable Investing Team

Fidelity believes that high standards of corporate responsibility will generally make good business sense and have the potential to protect and enhance investment returns.  Our investment process takes environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) issues into account when, in our view, these have a material impact on either investment risk or return.  We seek to gain an understanding of the relevant ESG issues applicable to our investments through our internal research process and to identify those issues which may potentially threaten the value of our investment.

ESG analysis is carried out at analyst level within the equity, fixed income and real estate teams and our portfolio managers are also active in analysing the potential effects of these factors when making investment decisions, supported by a specialist Sustainable Investing Team which coordinates Fidelity’s approach to ESG and the implementation of our voting policies.

Fidelity holds shares in a variety of publicly traded companies listed on stock exchanges throughout the world.  These companies hold regular shareholder meetings to obtain shareholder approval (via proxy circulars and related disclosure) on matters relating to their strategy and governance.  The Sustainable Investing Team makes voting decisions on behalf of Fidelity’s funds as well as the majority of segregated institutional clients who authorise Fidelity to vote on their behalf. Votes are cast in accordance with Fidelity’s proxy voting guidelines.
