The position of Site Chemist involves inspecting and accepting incoming hazardous and non-hazardous waste assignments, adhering to regulations and site procedures. The candidate must hold a qualification in chemistry or biochemistry. This role requires a hands-on approach and should be comfort with working outdoors. The role offers a clear pathway for progression to a senior site chemist position.

The Salary £25k-£28k and the work schedule includes flexible shifts: morning (5.30am - 2.30pm), late (1.30pm - 9.30pm), and night (9.30pm - 5.30am) shifts from Monday to Friday.

What Does The Role Look Like?
Overall, the Site Chemist role involves inspecting and accepting waste, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety protocols, and contributing to a safe and environmentally conscious work environment. The position offers growth potential within the organization.

You Should Have:
• A HNC or Degree Level Qualification in Chemistry or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Decisions making skills, based on data, information, and evidence.
• Displays natural leadership abilities in managing processes.
• Communicates effectively at all levels, including executive interactions.
• Demonstrates a willingness to work outdoors in hazardous chemical conditions.
• Previous experience in the Waste Industry is advantageous.

*This Site Chemist role is well-suited for either a recent graduate in the relevant field of chemistry or an individual with recent on-site experience.*

Key Responsibilities:
• Verify all incoming waste consignments to have proper documentation (Consignment Note/Duty of Care).
• Conduct safety checks for incoming waste, storage, and processing for compliance.
• Perform regular waste sampling for analysis in the internal laboratory.
• Inspect incoming waste according to requirements.
• Efficiently route waste to minimise costs while ensuring legal compliance.
• Ensure timely scanning of paperwork within 48 hours of arrival.
• Manage proper storage of waste according to sector guidance and permits.
• Process waste when necessary, including bulking, sorting, segregating, and repacking.
• Report incidents, observations, and concerns through the escalation process.
• Initiate Corrective Action Reports for concerns or opportunities.
