Project Design Engineer

£21,500 - £27,500 (Dependent on experience)

My client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The company supplies to small business as well as major blue-chip clients. They were established in the 80's and the ideal person will be looking to start a long and rewarding career with them.

You will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering (although someone with a HND may be considered) with preferably 2 years’ experience. You will be liaising with customers, as well as the sales and production team, over the phone, face to face, and by email; so you must have the ability to communicate on all levels both verbally and in writing.

The position will involve you interpreting clients’ ideas and creating CAD models using SolidEdge. You could be designing several projects per day, of different levels of complexity, many which will very quickly turn into orders. Once designed, you will send over quotes and proposals to the customer, and you will be expected to work closely with the production team to make sure that designs are successfully realised. You will also be working to tight deadlines with a very high level of accuracy.

The working hours will be 39 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday 08:00 to 16:30 and Thursday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00.
