Primarily responsible for the maintenance on the scouring or packing departments. Routine maintenance will be required and knowledge of equipment such as Presses, Heaters, pumps, heat exchangers, disc stack & decanter centrifuges, valves, stainless steel pipe welding, & workshop equipment such as lathes, drills, milling machines etc. is required. A basic knowledge of electrical equipment is also necessary. Good fault finding and problem solving skills are required.

Area of duty, Responsibility & Extent of responsibility

Plant repairs - The day to day repair and maintenance of any part of the plant. Knowledge of the following is required.

• Hydraulics (bale presses)
• Pneumatics
• Welding – Arc, TIG & MIG
• Basic electric understanding
• Gas heating equipment

New Installations - Installation of new machinery/system as when required and to Liase with Works Engineer.

Effluent plant - Understand the workings of the plant so that cover can be provided should a shift engineer be missing. Overall when required

Workshop work - A thorough knowledge of how to operate all workshop machines including:

• Lathe
• Milling Machine
• Stand drill
• Auto saw
• Shaping machine
• Guillotine
• Welding equipment, arc, TIG & MIG

Health & Safety

• Most hold IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
• Hot work certificates
• Lifting & Carrying
• Abrasive wheels
• Welding screens
• Eye protection
• Working at heights

Holiday Maintenance

All mill shut down weeks are compulsory maintenance work weeks. All engineers are to work mill shut down weeks. Overall responsible

**Cover will be required for other mechanics that are away on holiday or off sick**
