Ophthalmology Consultant

Consultant Ophthalmologist with significant experience in the management and treatment of Corneal / External Diseases. 

About You

You’re a clinically confident Ophthalmology Consultant with strong surgical skills and up‑to‑date knowledge across general ophthalmology and cataract surgery. You value teamwork, communicate clearly and take pride in delivering a positive patient experience.

You’re committed to maintaining high standards of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to continuous service improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Minimum six months recent NHS experience
• Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence
• Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
• Clear and confident communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Compassionate, patient‑centred approach

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina
• Experience contributing to ophthalmology service development
• Teaching or supervisory experience
• Involvement in audit, quality improvement or research activity
