Senior Life Sciences Cloud Architect

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $125 - $150 per hour

Location: Redwood City, CA - Remote Role

Job Summary:

Serve as the senior technical authority for evolving a v1 AWS and Databricks R&D data platform into a scalable, strategy-aligned environment supporting mixed exploratory and GxP-capable workloads. The platform is deployed but early in maturity, with significant opportunity to define coherent data architecture, risk-tiering, and validation-ready design.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess and validate the current v1 AWS and Databricks architecture.
• Define target-state architecture aligned to enterprise data strategy.
• Establish risk-tiering across exploratory, GxP-capable, blinded, and IP-sensitive domains.
• Define system boundaries and validation-aligned design principles.
• Architect segregation models for accounts, workspaces, and access controls.
• Partner with CloudOps to define admin, monitoring, and audit patterns.
• Provide architectural guidance to Data Engineering and MLOps.
• Align architecture with 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, and privacy requirements where applicable.
• Increase internal cloud capability through partnership and knowledge transfer.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 10+ years in life sciences technology architecture.
• Deep experience with AWS and Databricks.
• Direct experience with mixed exploratory and GxP environments.
• Experience supporting validation and inspection-readiness.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of scientific and drug development data domains.
