Device Test Automation Engineer

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $50 - $60 per hour

Location: Mountain View, CA - Hybrid Role

Job Summary:

Your main responsibility will be to investigate and triage test failures and alerts, identify root causes, and route issues to appropriate teams. You will not only analyze test results but also actively collaborate with lab technicians to resolve device-specific issues impacting test outcomes. You will need to be adept in device automation to determine how to prioritize failures and distribute issues to the correct teams in order to be resolved. You will need to be autonomous quickly. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Someone with experience with Failure Triage and Analysis
• Monitor automated test runs and lab failures.
• Analyze errors and metrics.
• Understand logs to determine who needs to fix failures.
• Identify root causes and the route to correct the team.
• Prioritize failures based on severity.
• Ability to Collaborate with Lab Technicians
• Must have excellent communication skills to disseminate issues and provide clear direction to lab techs, as well as coordinate between the test infrastructure and the device management team
• Must have experience with Configuration Management
• Implement configuration changes based on playbooks.
• Modify device settings, software configurations, and test environment parameters.
• On-device automation testing background
• Consumer electronics device experience (especially TV or Mobile-related)

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Strong debugging and automation skills
• Understanding of automation frameworks (deep conceptual knowledge required)
• Ability to analyze automation logs and device logs
• Experience with test infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scripting experience (TypeScript, SQL for dashboarding, Python)
• Knowledge of ticketing systems (internal use Buganizer, Jira experience is transferable)
• On-device automation testing background
• Consumer electronics device experience (especially TV/mobile - related)
