Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Supervisor to oversee the Incoming Quality Inspection and Final Quality Control (FAT) functions within our manufacturing operations. This position will directly supervise a team of Quality Control Inspectors and Incoming Quality Inspectors, ensuring that all incoming materials and finished products meet the highest quality standards before production use or customer shipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and manage the activities of Quality Control Inspectors and Incoming Quality Inspectors, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plan and assign daily inspection workloads, ensuring timely completion of incoming inspections, in-process checks, and final FAT inspections.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained and consistently follow company quality procedures, inspection methods, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the inspection of incoming raw materials, mechanical parts, electronic components, RF components, and circuit board assemblies to verify conformance to specifications, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Ensure accurate verification of part numbers, quantities, revisions, and configurations against purchase orders, BOMs, and customer requirements.
  • Supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of finished products, ensuring the team verifies mechanical, electronic, and integrated system performance according to defined protocols.
  • Manage the documentation of inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions, reviewing reports for accuracy and escalating critical issues to management.
  • Coordinate resolution of non-conforming materials or assemblies with Engineering, Purchasing, and Production, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Oversee product labeling, packaging, and documentation requirements to confirm compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the inspection team and the Production Manager, providing regular quality performance reports and escalation of critical issues.
  • Coordinate and host customer or third-party witness inspections as required.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD protocols, PPE requirements, and safety procedures across the team.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives within the inspection workflow, working cross-functionally to implement changes.
  • Provide guidance and support to inspectors as needed, but focus primarily on supervisory responsibilities rather than hands-on inspection.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics, manufacturing, or quality inspection preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing or assembly environment, with at least 3-5 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electronic, and PCB inspection methods, including oversight of tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and other precision instruments.
  • Ability to interpret and explain engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and test procedures to team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for inspection reporting and data management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize team workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising FAT processes in aerospace, telecom, or defense manufacturing.
  • Experience with RF-related test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, or signal generators.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC-A-610, or AS9102.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems for inspection and reporting.
  • Certification in IPC-A-610 or equivalent quality inspection standards.
