IT & Engineering Specialist

Direct Hire Full-Time Role

Pay Rate: $35 - $45 per hour

Location: Rockville, MD - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

We are hiring an IT & Engineering Specialist to support Windows-based office IT, manage a Cisco site network, and administer license servers for engineering/CAD software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement integration workflows across SaaS and internal systems using Azure Functions.
  • Build, publish, and manage APIs using Azure API Management (APIM), including versioning, product configuration, and developer onboarding guidance.
  • Implement APIM policies for authentication/authorization, throttling and quotas, transformation, logging, and IP filtering as required.
  • Develop Azure Functions (C#/.NET, Node.js/TypeScript, or Python) for data transformation, enrichment, orchestration helpers, and lightweight services.
  • Implement standardized error handling, retry logic, idempotency, and exception capture patterns.
  • Implement secrets and credential management using Azure Key Vault, including managed identity access and rotation-friendly patterns.
  • Apply secure-by-default practices such as role-based access control (RBAC), least privilege, and managed identities.
  • Implement centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, including correlation IDs across APIM, Logic Apps, and Functions.
  • Create operational runbooks, support documentation, and handoff materials for production support teams.
  • Establish reusable templates and patterns (Function App standards, APIM policy snippets).
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments and environment promotion (Dev/Test/Prod).
  • Partner with stakeholders to define integration requirements, service-level expectations, and support models.
  • Maintain Cisco-based site network, VPN remote access, NAS storage, and AV/conference room support site-wide
  • Troubleshoot wired/wireless connectivity; manage routing, switching, and VLANs
  • Maintain network security and coordinate maintenance with local/remote staff.
  • Support engineering test setups, including wireless bridge, outdoor test network, and iPerf throughput testing
  • Implement and support remote testing procedures and communication interfaces between production sites and local servers (Remote Tool: TeamViewer, AnyDesk)
  • Travel as needed to implement/debug testing procedures
  • Coordinate device procurement/shipping with other departments and for other US offices.
  • Support the California office and other locations as needed, occasional meetings with HQ in South Korea
  • Set device usage policies; administer Linux servers/workstations alongside Windows systems.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (computer/electrical engineering preferred)
  • 2–3 years in technical support
  • CCNA or CCNP certification (CCNP preferred)
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Docker, VirtualBox)
  • Strong MS OS & Office knowledge and Linux familiarity
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills; able to work under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian (Confluence, Jira), Google Workspace, LogitechTap, GitLab, SolidWorks, Keysight, Cadence, HFSS, or Helix ALM
