Logistics Specialist
W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $65 - $75 per hour
Location: Mountain View, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Logistics Specialist to manage the receiving, storage, configuration, staging, and distribution of technical devices. These include mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and networking equipment such as routers, switches, and access points. You will keep high-value assets accurately tracked from the moment they arrive to the moment they reach end users, field teams, or customer sites, and back again through returns and disposal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive inbound shipments of devices and accessories. Verify them against purchase orders, packing lists, and serial numbers, and report discrepancies or damage.
- Record every asset (serial number, IMEI, MAC address, asset tag) in the inventory or asset management system.
- Keep the stockroom secure, organized, and audit-ready. Run regular cycle counts and reconcile variances.
- Monitor stock levels and raise reorder requests before devices or accessories run short.
- Prepare devices for deployment: tag, kit with accessories, and coordinate with IT for imaging, MDM enrollment, SIM activation, or network pre-configuration.
- Pick, pack, and ship devices to employees, field technicians, branch offices, and customer sites, following ESD-safe and lithium-battery shipping rules.
- Book carriers and couriers, generate shipping labels, and track deliveries to confirmation.
- Coordinate urgent deliveries and replacements so end users stay productive.
- Process returned, faulty, and end-of-life devices. Inspect, grade, log, and route each one to redeployment, repair, or RMA.
- Manage vendor RMAs and warranty claims through to resolution.
- Make sure devices are data-wiped and certified before redeployment, recycling, or disposal, using approved ITAD vendors.
- Keep accurate records of asset assignments, transfers, and the chain of custody.
- Produce regular reports on inventory levels, shipments, turnaround times, and asset losses.
- Suggest process improvements that cut costs, errors, or delivery time.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years in logistics, warehousing, inventory control, or IT asset management.
- Experience handling serialized, high-value electronics such as phones, laptops, or networking gear.
- Working knowledge of inventory or asset management software and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Familiarity with major carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and their shipping portals.
- Valid driver's license, if local deliveries are part of the role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or coursework in supply chain, logistics, or IT.
- Experience with IT asset or service tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Snipe-IT, Jira Service Management) or an ERP/WMS.
- Exposure to MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf) or basic device setup and SIM activation.
- Knowledge of lithium-battery shipping rules (IATA/DOT) and ESD handling.
