Salary: AUD172386 - AUD173386 per annum + Bonuses and Super included
Job Summary/Introduction

We are seeking skilled Shotfirers to join the Drill and Blast team at Rio Tinto. As a Shotfirer, you will be responsible for the safe handling, preparation, and detonation of explosives in line with strict safety standards and blast plans. You’ll work closely with coordinators, engineers, and operators to ensure each blast is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance within all requirements.

Description

This is a critical role for Rio Tinto's mining operations, offering challenge, responsibility, and strong pathways for career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and use explosives in accordance with regulations and site standards

  • Execute blast plans using electronic detonators and firing systems

  • Operate stemming trucks and manage on-bench blast activities

  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all blast areas are cleared and secure

  • Maintain accurate blasting and stock control records

  • Collaborate with Drill & Blast teams and other operational areas



Candidate's Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence (Manual)

  • Appointed Shotfirer Authorisation

  • Dangerous Goods Security Card and relevant licences

  • Experience in blasting or explosives handling preferred

  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork and clear communication
