Experienced Shunter / Warehouse Operative

Pay Rate: £15.02 per hour

Overtime: Overtime available

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Shunter / Warehouse Operative to join their busy warehouse team in South Shields.

This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity for an experienced shunter looking for a varied, hands-on role. You'll play a key part in supporting both warehouse and transport operations, with approximately 50–60% of your shift spent shunting HGVs and the remainder carrying out warehouse duties.

Working with a fleet of 23 drays (20-tonne trailers), you'll be responsible for moving vehicles safely and efficiently around the site while also assisting with the loading, unloading, and handling of keg products.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely shunt HGV drays around the site as required.
• Position vehicles and trailers safely and efficiently to support warehouse operations.
• Load and unload full and empty kegs.
• Carry out general warehouse duties, including stock movement and housekeeping.
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and site policies.
• Work as part of a team to achieve daily operational targets.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as an HGV Shunter is essential.
• Experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable.
• A safety-conscious, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to carry out manual handling duties, including moving full and empty kegs.
• Flexibility to work night shifts and overtime when required.
