QA Engineer

About the role

The QA Engineer role is responsible for ensuring that the client/business are happy to sign-off on new and amended systems, configurations, together with any interfaces through the work of validating that requirements and specifications have been translated appropriately to development outcomes.

Through the use of manual testing practices and automated testing solutions, the QA Engineer is embedded with the software development team, working together to provide quality and robust solutions to the business.

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

Essential:

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, to ensure the ability to design and develop test plans and test cases
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into test plans and communicate these requirements to the business
  • Ensure proper resources and environments/equipment are provided
  • Ability to create clear concise detailed oriented test plans and test cases
  • Identifies, communicates and manages project risks
  • Provide specialist testing advice to support other team members
  • Demonstrated ability to self-determine workload within a project management framework and produce excellent results in the timeframe they are expected
  • Experience in test-driven development

Desirable:

  • ISTQB Foundation level certification
  • Diploma or higher tertiary qualification in Computer Science or other programming-related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse a problem and develop an innovative solution that meets the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience with automation test tools like Functionize, Ranorex, etc.
  • Experience with writing AGILE business requirements
  • Experience with working within the Education sector
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman
