Quantity Surveyor - HV Substation Projects
 
Location: Blantyre, Scotland
Employment: Contract
Contract: Outside IR35, subject to assessment
Salary/Rate: £47 5- £550 per day (DoE) 

The Opportunity
 
We're looking for experienced Quantity Surveyors to join a growing HV infrastructure team, supporting a portfolio of major substation projects across Scotland.
 
You'll take ownership of the commercial delivery of projects, working closely with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors and the supply chain.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial administration of NEC contracts across HV substation projects.
• Prepare and maintain CVRs, budgets, forecasts and cost-to-complete.
• Manage NEC Compensation Events, Early Warnings, contractual notices and programme impacts.
• Assess Defined Cost, Disallowed Cost and Payment Applications.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor margin, turnover, cash flow and commercial performance.
• Identify, manage and forecast commercial risks and opportunities.
• Review programmes and assess the commercial impact of delay, change and critical path activities.
• Support Project Managers with NEC compliance and commercial strategy.
• Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors and the supply chain.
• Maintain robust records and substantiation for changes, Compensation Events and claims.
• Produce monthly commercial reports for project and senior management.
• Support tendering and procurement of substation packages and specialist electrical works.
• Support commercial close-out, lessons learned and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• Proven QS experience within HV, substations, utilities, power or electrical infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience with Compensation Events, Early Warnings, Defined Cost and commercial change.
• Strong CVR, forecasting and cost-control experience.
• Experience managing subcontractor and supply chain accounts.
• Ability to understand programmes and the commercial impact of delay and change.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
