Location: Redwood City, CA - Remote Role
Job Summary:
As a Compensation Analyst/Senior Compensation Analyst, you will ensure that we attract, reward, and retain highly qualified team members by helping to develop and maintain our compensation philosophy, strategy, practices, programs, and governance. In this role, you will combine the latest industry research with feedback from managers and team members to make large-scale, data-driven decisions that support our mission and core values. This will require you to think big, roll up your sleeves, and use data to guide your work. This role will make recommendations regarding cash and equity compensation and job leveling throughout the organization. In addition, you will provide guidance to internal partners on various compensation questions. You will be a key subject matter expert on our HR team with the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from broader experienced HR team members. You will report directly to the Senior Director, Total Rewards, and HRBP.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner on the development and implementation of compensation structures (salary, bonus, equity), incentive policies, and practices in partnership with project teams and other HR teams, including staffing, legal, finance, and others.
- Continuously evaluate our compensation programs, innovating and recommending changes, to maximize the effectiveness of our investment in total rewards.
- Build compensation packages to attract top talent, partnering closely with our staffing team.
- Assist with the analysis of the market competitiveness of the company's compensation programs, including conducting research on peer and market practices, and modeling the impact of any design changes.
- Own the execution of annual and mid-year compensation planning cycles, including modeling, project planning, communications, and training.
- Design and build compensation metrics, reports, and tools to inform compensation decisions and forecast, report, and/or analyze compensation outcomes.
- Participate in a variety of compensation surveys to collect and analyze market data and maintain well-rounded knowledge of industry trends and practices.
- Act as an internal consultant to the business regarding hiring, promotion, compensation planning cycle, and related compensation activities; communicate meaningful recommendations, including salary and bonus programs as needed.
- Coordinate with finance staff to ensure accurate implementation of compensation programs and accruals, and collaborate on the equity program administration.
- Assist in preparing materials for the Board, Compensation Committee, and senior management team related to broad-based and executive compensation programs and proposals.
- Maintain compensation policies and plans, including assisting in developing and maintaining department processes, best practices, and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, a quantitative analysis-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5+ years of experience in compensation, analytical HR, or management consulting (e.g., strategy, compensation).
- Experience in the design, development, and implementation of compensation programs.
- Experience with job architecture development is a plus, including job descriptions, career, and leveling guides.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, macros, scripts).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and ability to communicate with manager and executive audiences.
- Strong interest in analyzing data with the ability to see beyond the numbers to influence decision-making.
- Experience in improving and identifying issues in processes, models, suggesting user-focused improvements, and navigating/influencing cross-functional teams to drive these changes.
- Strong problem-solving and organization skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with the laws and regulations related to compensation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also being able to collaborate with others.
- Ability to set priorities while working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong business/financial knowledge; understands business strategy, maintains a fundamental understanding of our business, and connects it to our total rewards philosophy.
