Part time Janitor B15 1 / Monday to Friday, 17:00–19:30 Type: 3 month contract with the potential to extend

 

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Janitor to support daily cleaning and facility maintenance within a regulated environment. The successful candidate will maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workplace across labs, washrooms, offices, hallways, and cafeteria areas. Core responsibilities include daily cleaning, waste disposal and recycling, and general upkeep such as dusting, window cleaning, and polishing fixtures.

The role also involves responding to facility service requests, including minor cleaning needs, waste removal, moving items, replacing lights, and other routine support tasks. Additional duties include assisting with facility projects such as floor stripping and waxing, cleaning air diffusers and exhaust grills, and maintaining the building exterior—removing debris, sweeping walkways, performing snow removal and salting during winter, and maintaining designated outdoor areas.

The Janitor will also ensure regular replenishment of facility dispensers, maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, and perform other duties as required.

Experience

  • Experience in a cleaning or maintenance role.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to perform shift work as required.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or food‑processing environments is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Routine and repetitive work tasks.

  • Occasional porter duties, including moving furniture, boxes, or workstations.
  • Work primarily performed in comfortable indoor environments.
  • Regular exposure to mild physical discomfort (dust, fumes, odours, temperature changes, noise, drafts, bright lights).
  • Occasional need for basic sensory attention.
