We are recruiting on behalf of a successful, employee-owned company for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and technically strong engineer looking to take the lead on a variety of challenging projects across multiple sectors, while playing a key role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continued success of the business.

Shift: 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, Flexible working hours

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical lead on projects of varying size and complexity
  • Prepare structural design calculations, drawings, specifications and reports
  • Coordinate designs with technicians and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Attend client meetings and undertake structural surveys
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors and other stakeholders throughout project delivery
  • Review and check engineering designs, calculations and drawings
  • Supervise and mentor Graduate Engineers within the team
  • Assist with commercial and project management activities
  • Ensure compliance with current design standards and regulations

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status (MICE/MIStructE) or nearing Chartership
  • Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience within a structural engineering background
  • Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures
  • Good knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards
  • Proficiency with Tekla Structural Designer and TEDDS
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015
