Position: Area Sales Manager - Pump and Machinery Sales
Job Overview: As an Area Sales Manager, you will oversee key and general accounts and new business within a designated area. Your primary responsibility is to foster strong relationships with customers and end users, managing the full cycle from project inception to completion. The goal is to maximise business potential through exceptional customer service and strategic sales initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and cultivate business opportunities within the designated area.
- Create comprehensive technical and commercial quotations.
- Offer technical support to customers from pre-order stages, including pump selection and operational guidance.
- Attend and lead technical and commercial meetings, driving contract negotiations.
- Contribute actively to the Water Business Unit Plan, providing necessary and precise information.
- Maintain continuous communication with customers until project fulfilment.
- Collaborate with various company departments to optimise customer service.
- Manage Framework submissions, attend meetings, and act as a Framework Manager for specific key customers.
- Work from key customer offices to bolster company presence and customer support.
- Prepare and conduct technical presentations.
- Gather relevant market intelligence and contribute to potential case studies or technical articles.
- Utilise CRM effectively for sales enhancement and business intelligence reporting.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support throughout the process.
Decision Making:
- Determine sales price, margin, lead times, conflict resolution, and contract conditions.
Communication and Contacts:
- Engage in written and verbal communications with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, institutions, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and present technical and commercial material to senior personnel.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in selling within a pump, compressor, or rotating machinery environment.
- Engineering background with a focus on pumps and pumping systems.
- Strong numerical skills and proficient IT abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency in risk management and experience with ISO9001.
- Preferably an HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering field.
- Expertise in pump selection, operation, technical documentation, and negotiation of terms.
- Extensive knowledge of the Water industry, its key clients, and contacts.
- Familiarity with SAP and handling multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

Additional Information:
This is a home-based role that involves frequent travel within the UK and occasional overseas trips. Full-time position: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Competitive salary and bonus scheme offered.
