Tool Maker (SNTM) Oldbury, England

Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Tool Maker to join a well-established engineering company in Oldbury, West Midlands on a permanent basis.

Reporting into the Technical Manager the role of the Toolmaker is a key role, with the ideal candidate having hands-on experience within a press tool repair and manufacturing environment with the proven ability to work under pressure supporting the day to day production activities, working with a team to provide preventative, breakdown and development activities to support the manufacturing divisions.

Duties & responsibilities of the role:

  • Operate standard tool room equipment proficiently, including EDM Wire Eroding machines
  • Operate a Forklift Truck to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production
  • Ensure as part of the team, all breakdowns are covered in a timely manner to ensure production downtime is kept to a minimum
  • Aim for a “right first time” approach to all work carried out
  • Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, including agreeing timescales and costs
  • Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and company rules and procedures
  • Seek continuous improvement relating to the business KPI’s and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business

Candidate specification:

  • Demonstratable experience working in a Tool Maker role
  • Well organised, multiskilled, self-motivated and professional
  • Good timekeeping and attendances
  • Responsible for achieving own key objectives as well as the objectives of the team
  • Able to priortise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure
  • Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively
  • Attention to detail; accuracy is paramount
  • Able to communicate at all levels and have a “can do” attitude
  • Able to read engineer drawings

Salary, working hours and benefits:-

  • £30,000 per annum dependent on experience
  • Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 4:00pmwith half and hour lunch break each day and 07:30am to 12:30pm with no lunch break on Friday of each week – 37 hours in total
