High Voltage Operations Lead (BBBH388) Melbourne, Australia
| Salary: | AUD170000 - AUD200000 per annum + + Super |
What will this job do to improve your life?
This is an opportunity to step away from purely hands-on HV work and take ownership of how a major infrastructure business operates its HV network.
Rather than inherit a finished operating model, you will have the autonomy to identify gaps, establish new standards and influence how HV operations evolve as the portfolio grows. You will become the go-to technical expert for HV operations, giving you significant visibility across operational, construction and development teams.
For someone who has built strong practical HV experience and wants greater ownership, technical authority and long-term career impact, this offers a genuine opportunity to shape capability rather than simply work within an existing system.
About the role
Reporting directly to the operational engineering leader, you will work alongside senior electrical, mechanical and controls specialists across Sydney and Melbourne.
You will act as the HV subject-matter expert across a portfolio that includes 11kV infrastructure, larger facilities operating at 132kV and future infrastructure planned up to 220kV.
The position will focus on HV governance, operating standards, policies, switching procedures and technical assurance. You will also support the development of technical training and e-learning material to strengthen HV capability across the wider organisation.
This is a technical individual contributor position with no direct reports.

- Own HV operating standards, policies, switching procedures and governance
- Review switching programs, permits and operational practices and identify technical gaps
- Provide high-level technical approval and guidance across HV switching and operational matters
- Develop HV training material and technical content for internal capability programs
Skills & experience
- Strong practical experience across HV operations, switching and electrical safety
- Experience with switching programs, permits, operating procedures and HV governance
- Sound knowledge of HV assets, apparatus, commissioning and testing
- Ability to develop technical standards, policies and procedures from the ground up
- Strong stakeholder skills with the ability to work across operational, construction and technical teams
Benefits
- Significant ownership over the future HV operating model
- Flexible working hours with approximately two work-from-home days potentially available
- Work across complex critical infrastructure and HV assets up to 220kV
- Join a senior, collaborative and family-friendly engineering environment
