Salary: AUD38 - AUD45 per hour

We are seeking an experienced, and reliable Support Worker to support a male participant based in Thornlands. The participant is living with a spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury and requires person-centred care and support during an important transition period as he relocates to Brisbane with his pregnant partner. With their first baby due to arrive soon, the participant would greatly benefit from dedicated external support to promote independence, wellbeing, and confidence during the adjustment period of becoming a first-time father.

Shift times:

  • 7 am – 10 am – Monday to Sunday
  • 10 am -2 pm – Monday to Sunday
  • 6 pm – 9 pm – Monday – Friday
  • 7 pm - 9 pm – Monday – Friday
  • 6 pm – 10 pm – Saturday – Sunday
  • 7 pm - 10 pm – Saturday – Sunday

Duties:

  • Assistance with personal care
  • Bowel care including digital stimulation and enema’s  
  • Catheter care
  • Assistance with transfers
  • Assistance with domestic tasks and meal preparation
  • Medication management
  • Assistance with supporting parental care and additional tasks
  • Community access including attending PT, Hand OT and Hydrotherapy each week

Skills & Experience

  • Australian Driver’s License
  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support minimum requirement
  • Current National Police Clearance within 12 months
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Yellow Card
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • NDIS Support effective communication module
  • Must hold a current 006- assist clients with medication certificate or willing to obtain
  • Current whooping cough vaccination as there will be a new baby in the home soon
