Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor (JAMC814) Glasgow, Scotland

Salary: GBP20 - GBP25 per hour + Umbrella Ltd dependant on experience/quals
A local authority based in Inverclyde, Scotland is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a full relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, experience with domestic properties, extensive experience in repairs and maintenance based works and ideally experience within a similar local authority/housing position.

The main purpose of the role is to Oversees the financial and commercial relationship between the client and its suppliers, in particular its subsidiary organisation, to ensure they deliver an excellent service for customers, whilst ensuring that financial planning, cost control and, value for money are held paramount at all times.

The main duties associated with this role are as follows;

Contribute to client’s plans for the delivery of new build and major works/investment programmes helping to ensure that homes are well built and maintained and procurement follows legal frameworks and achieves value for money
Conduct cost analysis and financial planning for relevant projects and provide full management reports thereafter with any required recommendation on added value, efficiencies and best practice
Oversee the implementation of all contracts delegated to you, to ensure costs control and value for money, including advising on contractual claims
Assist in the production of complex tender documents and manage the procurement process in consultation with the Asset & Development Manager
Support the MD in the preparation of tenders and bid documents to secure contracts outside of the client and to develop a pipeline of future opportunities.
Ensure Home Fix is able to fully understand its costs in relation to all service delivery and to ensure its charge out rates and tender values fully recover these costs and deliver a target profit.
Help to capture, and manage comprehensive and accurate investment data. Improve and preserve data integrity and ensure systems are fit for purpose.
Responsible for successful costing, billing and appraisal of new build and planned work programmes, including effective programme management, and delivery of key KPI’s and ARC targets, to required standards and quality of work, within cost and value for money requirements

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Full professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS designation) is essential for this post.
Experience of contract management, procurement and managing external contractors and consultants.
Experience of contributing to/developing and delivering appropriate strategies, policies and procedures to shape high quality services.
Significant experience of developing and managing budgets.
Demonstrable experience of achieving significant productivity gains and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Experience of successfully delivering new ways of working.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £20 - £25 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (approx. £510 - £620 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
