A Buyer is needed by a Manufacturing company near Sunderland
The key focus of the role is to ensure raw material and consumables availability, maintain inventory and supplier records and to expedite consumables and parts when they are required. You will work closely with Quotations and Estimating staff to place purchase orders for materials to meet sample and production requirements and ensure that they meet the customers specification, quality, cost and delivery requirements.
You will also investigate evaluate and introduce new suppliers, ensure accurate stock, WIP and finished goods levels are maintained, maintain stock adjustment procedures, ensure supplier purchase orders and schedules are issued using MRP or Kanban demand triggers. You will need to anticipate any supplier difficulties to prevent material shortages, update and maintain purchase records, reduce costs from defective suppliers and assist all departments with queries, i.e. order numbers for advice notes, accounts queries.
The successful candidate will need 3-5 years purchasing experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment. You will need experience of using MRP / Kanban systems and stock control, inventory management, materials booking in & out procedures and supplier appraisal skills. You will also need experience of dealing with component and material non-conformances and rejects. A CIPS qualification would be an advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is a Full UK Driving Licence
