A Continuous Improvement Engineer is sought by a growing Engineering company in Sunderland
The role of Continuous Improvement Engineer is focused on improving existing manufacturing and business processes to improve performance on quality, cost and delivery for market leading engineering equipment. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction around lean manufacturing initiatives, facilitate cross-functional teams to drive improvements in manufacturing performance in terms of people, material flow, product throughput, cost and quality. In addition to this you will develop & implement manufacturing tolls using strategic deployment tools such as 5S/5C, Kaizen, 7 Wastes, Kanban and Value Stream Mapping to initiate sustainable change that will lead to a step-up of operating processes and work packages.
You will also develop effective Standard Operating Procedures for effective workshop & health & safety management, establish meaningful metrics across the manufacturing base for performance monitoring, identify the nature & cause of problems using problem-solving tools such as 8D etc and communicate all issues, opportunities and solutions to the appropriate teams.
The successful Continuous Improvement Engineer will have experience of leading lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives and using 5S/5C, Kaizen, 7 Wastes, Kanban and Value Stream Mapping tools. You will also need good leadership and influencing skills, the ability to write Standard Operating Procedures and set & monitor effective KPIs. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to use data capture tools to improve management information and metrics is also needed.
