Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Manchester/Flexible
Senior Infrastructure Engineer required for a leading organisation based in Manchester to be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and availability of the companies IT services including incident escalation and resolution as well as designing, modifying and implementing IT services within the business.
The ideal candidate for this role would have worked within a Senior Infrastructure Engineer role previously or be an Infrastructure Engineer ready to step up into a senior role. The candidate would need to be experienced supporting the Microsoft stack and ideally have been part of infrastructure projects as well as BAU. Knowledge of SCCM and VMware is essential.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
- To implement well designed, highly resilient, secure, and cost-effective technical platforms.
- To maintain the technical infrastructure in optimum condition.
- To respond to incidents with the swift use of technical skills to speedily diagnose and resolve any technical failures that do occur.
- To be a senior point of contact for technical escalation and knowledge sharing for the wider IT Service team.
- Provide Senior Infrastructure Engineering consultancy and project implementation services to the IT Solutions Delivery team.
- Identify and contribute knowledge and expertise regarding IT services and infrastructure in relation to the design of new services.
- Take part in research and development that can help expand the service portfolio or which can be used to simplify or automate IT operations, reduce costs or increase levels of IT service.
- Provide training to appropriate teams and technical resources.
- Participate in projects, not only during the design and transition phases of new services but also for service improvement and/or operational projects, such as upgrades and server consolidation projects.
- Monitor availability and capacity metrics in relation to the infrastructure.
- Be an advocate for good IT service management including Change Management.
- Ensure that all system and operating documentation is up to date and available to the appropriate teams.
The salary my client is offering for this position is between £45,000 and £55,000 depending on experience.
