IT Cyber Security Lead – West Midlands Based

Junior/Mid-Level IT Cyber Security Lead required for a leading organisation based in the West Midlands, where you will be to be responsible for managing and maintaining the organisation's cyber security systems and infrastructure, along with protecting the organisation's IT systems and computer networks against cyber attacks, intrusions, malware and various types of data breaches. You will also provide advice on policies and procedures in the organisation.

This is a brand-new role within the business, so an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in terms of cyber security. You will have support from highly experienced cyber security professionals to lean for guidance.

The ideal candidate with either have previous cyber security experience, or you will be an Infrastructure/Systems Engineer with experience of IT Security. The role will be predominantly based from home, with 1/2 days travel to the office per week.

Key skills and Responsibilities

  • Lead in detecting and analysing security incidents including attacks, breaches, and identified vulnerabilities and remediate any security gaps in line with the security incident management procedure.
  • Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.
  • Contribute to the drafting of policies, procedures, and related guidelines within an area of expertise to meet defined key principles and ensure compliance with external requirements.
  • Collect business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
  • Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and the broader organisation's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing appropriate plans or performing necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on interpreting and applying knowledge of laws, regulations and policies in area of expertise.
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding and training others on monitoring, diagnosing and fixing technological problems.

The salary my client is offering for this position is between £45,000 and £50,000 depending on experience.
