Job Description: QA/QC Advisor for Open-Cycle Gas Turbine Project



Company Overview: Our client is a leading engineering firm committed to delivering innovative and sustainable energy projects. We are currently seeking an experienced QA/QC Advisor to join our client's team for an exciting Open-Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) project. The QA/QC Advisor will be responsible for ensuring quality-related matters throughout the construction project, providing expert advice to the project team, and maintaining compliance with relevant quality standards.

 


Position: QA/QC Advisor - Open-Cycle Gas Turbine Project


Location: 2 Sites / 2 Vacancies – Either Bedfordshire or Suffolk


Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

 



Quality Assurance:
 

  • Oversee all quality-related aspects of the OCGT project, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to the project team on QA matters, including compliance requirements and quality management processes.

 


Reporting and Communication:
 

  • Report progress and issues related to project quality to the QA Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate project quality requirements effectively to all involved parties, ensuring a shared understanding of quality standards.

 


Quality Management Plan (QMP) and Inspection Test Plan (ITP):
 

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to prepare project-specific QMP and ITP, ensuring alignment with client requirements and obtaining acceptance.

 


Construction Audit and Compliance:
 

  • Conduct audits of construction activities to verify compliance with approved procedures and quality plans.
  • Review and assist in compiling the quality section for handover documentation, ensuring completion to client acceptance.



Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement:
 

  • Monitor quality-related issues and perform root cause analysis using techniques like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose corrective actions to enhance quality and efficiency.

 


Internal and External Audits:
 

  • Undertake internal and external quality audits at various project stages, including supply chain sites like Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT's).

 


Quality Incident Investigation and Reporting:
 

  • Lead quality incident investigations, report findings, and develop corrective actions, tracking their implementation to closure.

 


Health, Safety, and Compliance:
 

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures while performing duties.
  • Foster a strong safety culture among project personnel.

 


Technical Document Preparation:
 

  • Compose technical documents and procedures for review by the QA Manager and Head of Engineering, ensuring clarity and accuracy.

 

 



Essential Skills / Qualifications:


 

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a quality-based role, ideally in a civil engineering environment or other regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
  • Experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss complex quality issues and influence outcomes.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, punctual, and able to work under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
