Location: Homebased, however adhoc travel will be required to the York Office

Payrate - £13.98 per hour

Hours - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm ( 37 hours )

Hiring for a reputed client, you’ll support the Farming Directorate Engagement Team with scheduling, secretariat coordination, and day-to-day engagement activity-helping ensure meetings run smoothly, insights are captured accurately, and follow-through is clear.
What you'll be doing:
• Support stakeholder account management by scheduling bi-monthly and quarterly calls and keeping records accurate in the account management log
• Prepare briefing packs by collating policy updates, relevant blog/social media insights, and actions from previous meetings
• Monitor attendance and arrange appropriate cover when needed for account managers and note takers
• Maintain an Insight Tracker by ensuring key discussion points and meeting notes are uploaded within set timeframes
• Take clear, concise, accurate meeting notes and share them promptly with the right people
• Provide secretariat support for stakeholder roundtables and forums, including invitations, response tracking, and distributing briefing materials
• Manage a shared mailbox professionally-handling enquiries and escalating where appropriate
• Coordinate logistics, approvals, and site visits for external venues when required
• Support wider engagement activity, including attending agricultural shows/events in person and representing Defra
• Help cascade updates to stakeholders and maintain stakeholder distribution lists
• Support the Strategic Engagement Team calendar and desk-duty rota
What you'll bring:
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines
• Confident written and verbal communication, with a professional approach to internal and external stakeholders
• Experience providing high-quality administrative or business support in a busy environment
• Strong attention to detail to produce accurate records, meeting notes, and correspondence
• Confident use of Microsoft Office-Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently, use initiative, and identify solutions to routine issues (escalating when needed)
• Experience organising meetings and events, including invitations, briefing materials and logistics
• A flexible, proactive, customer-focused mindset-collaborative, reliable, and ready to support shared priorities
