The Manufacuring / Production Manager is responsible for overseeing, managing & improving all aspects of the manufacturing / production process, ensuring that all products are delivered on time and within budget.  The primary duties will include planning, scheduling & coordinating available resources for maximum output efficiency.   This is a “hands on” position where you are expected to lead from the front  - and instil a “right first time” mentality

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: £50,000 per annum (depending on skills and level of responsibility)
  • Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 6:15am – 4:30pm (No working on Fridays)
  • Contract: Permanent, full-time
  • Annual Leave: 25 days per year plus bank holidays

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily production meeting to ensure customer needs are met – with sharp focus on Quality & OTD
  • Daily problem-solving of manufacturing problems and timely implementation of solutions
  • Review of BOM’s – anticipating issues and/or shortages - coordinating with supply chain for replenishment of materials and/or equipment as required
  • Liaise with other engineers to develop and implement systems and processes that improve overall production operations - utilising LEAN practices
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational
  • Train, mentor, and supervise production staff to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and maximum output efficiency
  • Set department objectives & KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct report

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of LEAN manufacturing processes and quality control principles
  • Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiencies
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team
  • Strong engineering knowledge and understanding – with a hands on approach
  • Proficient in analysis of data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions
  • Courage to challenge and speak up when faced with resistance.
  • Flexibility, multitasking ability, and ability to prioritize.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/engineering/production environment.
  • Interest in science & technology, engineering, and manufacturing.
