Senior Java Developer – JP Morgan – London – 10-month Contract – Onsite
Description
We are seeking a hands on Senior Java Developer to join J.P. Morgan in London on an initial 10 month contract. This is a hands on role where you will design, build, and maintain Java-based backend systems, working with microservices, cloud technologies, and distributed systems. You will help ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and high performing, while collaborating with colleagues and mentoring team members.
Please note that as part of the interview process you will be expected to carry out basic core java coding and systems design since the role involves mentoring less experienced candidates.
Job responsibilities
- Design and deliver cloud-native, microservices-based solutions using modern technologies and best practices.
- Apply domain-driven design to build high-quality business products.
- Design software that is clear, testable, and easy to evolve, while using scalable architectures that eliminate single points of failure.
- Develop secure code to protect customers and the organization and promptly investigate and resolve issues to prevent recurrence.
- Optimize data access, performance, reliability, and operability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues permanently.
- Continuously evolve architectures, technologies, and patterns.
- Provide end-to-end support for your products throughout their lifecycle, including production and incident management.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Recent hands-on experience as a backend engineer using Java.
- Proficient in designing and implementing tests (unit, integration, end-to-end, performance).
- Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, distributed systems, RESTful APIs, messaging frameworks (e.g., Kafka), and relational databases.
- Experienced in operating, supporting, and securing mission-critical applications.
- Skilled in mentoring team members on coding practices, design principles, and maintainable solutions.
- Strong English communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to prioritize across multiple workstreams.
- Experienced in TDD and microservices architecture.
- Experience in regulated industries preferred.
- Expertise in cloud-native microservices and AWS is desired
